Site Description:

This site has a vertical solution tube approx. 1 meter in diameter that drops approx. 16 meters to the water. Divers can swam to a clean rock in waist deep water to stand on to don / doff diver gear. 

The dive itself consists of a large underwater main chamber that leads to a tunnel with a maximum depth of 33 metres.

 

Site Access Requirements:

  • Hold a minimum of Cave rating.

  • Be suitably prepared for an overhanging cliff entry and egress

  • Have the skills and fitness to climb a 15-metre free hanging wire rope ladder. If unable to do this, divers must contact the Site Access Officer at least 1 week prior to discuss their ingress / egress options.

  • At least one person one the dive team with prior access experience diving this site who is able to guide the dive team onto and off the property.

 

Site Specific Requirements:

  • No smoking on site.

  • No compressors to be used on site.

  • One member must be topside at all times.

  • Divers may enter the property any time after 8 AM and must leave the property no later than 2 PM.

  • Respect the sanitary conditions and visual impact to the property owners and use the dairy shed toilet. This is located near the lunchroom / office.

 

Access Notes: 

Please refer to the Bakers Cave Site Access Protocols in the CDAA Regulations Manual (pg. 41). When using the toilet, press the green button to turn the pump on before entering the toilet, then press the red button to turn it off after you have finished. Please check when you leave the site to make sure no one has accidentally left it on. The instrument panel is on the LHS wall next to the office. The toilet around the LH corner from the office.
