Once known as the "Middle of the Road", Allendale East Cave is a steeply sloping cave approximately 80m long, with a maximum depth of about 24m.
Access to the water is via a crude stairway cut into the doline. A rope may be required as it is very steep and can get quite slippery. At the bottom of the doline is a small pool large enough for two divers. The dive begins with a "duck-under", which takes divers to the main cave slope. The floor of the cave consists primarily of rubble and loose rock, covered in a deep layer of dark brown silt. Care must be taken to prevent silting. At its deepest point, divers will find themselves in a large chamber, with plenty of room to look around.
