General Diving:

DEW have commenced using timeslots so when you email the department to make a booking you will need to advise what timeslot you require: Fossil Cave (maximum of 5 divers per timeslot, including instructor/s) – 8am to 10am, 12 noon to 2pm, 4pm to 6pm. Bookings must be made via EMAIL. Please send email booking requests to

Please contact at least 3 business days before the booking is required as the DEW system locks out 24 hours before.

Please be sure to include NAMES OF ALL DIVERS, CDAA NUMBERS, RELEVANT BOOKING DATE/S, and a contact phone number. For each timeslot there must be a minimum of two divers, diving together, per booking. Any changes or additions to your booking must be requested by the person who made the initial booking. Maximum of two dives/timeslots to be booked on a day.

Allow 24-48 hours for DEW to confirm your booking and details. You will receive a return booking confirmation email once all indemnities have been received and CDAA qualifications verified.

A Departmental Indemnity form must be completed online here. Note that these indemnities are valid for a financial year, and will also need to be re-submitted following courses when a higher level of certification has been attained. Fossil Cave is “cave rated” with a special condition that divers must not dive beyond the restriction to enter the phreatic passage unless qualified to the Advanced Cave level. This restriction is indicated by a depth of 13m.

The instructor is to notify DEW of the dates ad timeslots needed and is to forward signed indemnities from each student and their temporary card number.
